

The Scholarship Application Opens March 1st 2026 Closes April 30th 2026
GEORGE M. HUGHES FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Description: The George M. Hughes Foundation awards scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors who attend school or reside in the North Metro-Atlanta area. The scholarships are awarded based on scholarship, need, and leadership, separately. All applicants will be considered for each of the scholarships, but can only be awarded one. Prerequisites: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior of good character who has demonstrated a penchant for leadership through extra-curricular activities. Applicant must meet the following academic requirements: a minimum score of 1010 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), renamed the SAT Reasoning Test, or 19 on the American College Test (ACT), plus a 3.0 grade point average on a core of 11 college preparatory subjects. For need criteria, the counselor or sponsor must certify the applicant’s need with a detailed letter. Applicant must be entering a degree program at an accredited college or university. Service academies and their preparatory schools are excluded.
Application: Submit an application for the George M. Hughes Foundation Scholarship with the following documents:

Official high school transcript,

Two (2) Letters of reference from high school teachers or administrators.

A personal video introducing yourself and sharing your dreams and aspirations (Max. 2 minutes)
Awards: Four scholarships to be awarded, ranging from $1,000 to $4000 as follows:

Hughes Scholarship for academic excellence.

Pinado Scholarship for need.

Blackburn Scholarship for leadership.
A Four-year Calvin O. Pressley Scholarship for academic excellence and leadership
Scholarship funds will be made available within 30 days after the recipient provides proof of enrollment.
